France Télévisions and Italian free-to-air channel Rai have co-commissioned a reboot of animated series Mumfie from Zodiak Kids.

The new 78 x seven-minute version of the series is being co-produced by Zodiak Kids Studio France and Italian animation studio Animoka, along with France TV and Rai. Production began this year, and the show will be delivered in the spring to air on France TV’s kids SVOD Okoo and Italian kids channel Rai Yoyo.

Mumfie is a preschool comedy based on Magic Adventures of Mumfie, which was originally created by Britt Allcroft (Thomas & Friends). The new iteration (pictured) features the optimistic young elephant as a helpful hero in this whimsical show about daily adventures.

The original was first broadcast in the ’90s on CiTV (UK), Fox Kids (US) and other international channels.

Despite the pandemic, Zodiak Kids has had a busy year. In January, it inked a co-production deal with Bureau of Magic (Lost in Oz) for a new mythical creature series called Save the Legends!, and then secured several commissions while in lockdown, including Ultimate Video Skills for Sky and Mr Maker at Home for BBC Children’s. Most recently, Disney EMEA and YLE (Finland) co-commissioned the new animated comedy The Unstoppable Yellow Yeti from Zodiak Kids and Gigglebug.
