Chinese streaming platform Tencent Video has inked co-production agreements with three animation companies to develop and produce new series for Tencent Kids in China.

Deals with Zelit Productions, Sixteen South and Silvergate Media are part of Tencent’s multi-year strategy to partner with studios across Europe to make original programming for its platform. The streamer is still looking for additional studios to partner with to develop new content for domestic and global audiences, according to a statement.

First on the slate is Luxembourg-based Zelit Productions’ Deep in the Bowl (pictured), which skews to kids eight to 12. Inspired by the French comic books Le Fond du Bocal, the 3D and live-action hybrid series dives into the daily adventures of a group of fish living in an aquarium. The 52 x five-minute show is fully funded and already in production, with delivery set for 2022. Zelit and Tencent are seeking global distribution partners, excluding China.

Ireland’s Sixteen South is gearing up to produce a 3D comedy series to launch in 2022, although the companies have declined to reveal more details on the project yet. Sixteen South Rights will distribute the series internationally.

Finally, London-based Silvergate Media is working on a CG-animated comedy to launch on Tencent Kids and internationally in 2022.

Tencent has added several new shows from European producers to its platform recently, including a fourth season of The Fixies from Russian animation studio The Riki GroupLast year, the streamer picked up TeamTO’s Mighty Mike (78 x seven minutes), Sixteen South’s Claude (50 x 12 minutes), Cottonwood Media’s The Ollie and Moon Show (52 x 11 minutes) and the Boat Rocker and BBC Children’s co-pro Danger Mouse.
