London-based distributor Serious Lunch has picked up worldwide rights to Platinum Films’ Matt Hatter Chronicles.

Platinum Films previously handled distribution on the series, collaborating with Singapore-based Bomanbridge on sales in Asia. Under the new agreement, Serious Lunch will manage the relationship with Bomanbridge, and the two companies will collaborate on sales across Asia.

Matt Hatter Chronicles follows the eponymous character who discovers a hidden portal in his family’s movie theater and is transported to a mirror dimension, where he becomes defender of the multiverse. It premiered on Teletoon in Canada in 2012 and has since been translated into 20 languages.

The 52 x 26-minute CG-animated series originally sold well, according to Serious Lunch. It has since aired on Disney XD (Benelux), Cartoon Network (Australia and the Middle East) and ITV (UK). It was also picked up by Clan TVE (Spain), Gulli and Canal J (France), Canal Panda (Portugal) and Network 10 (Australia).

Serious Lunch is now looking to develop the IP’s digital presence, primarily with VOD partners, according to director of global sales Leila Ouledcheikh.
