Cartoon Forum moves to a hybrid model

Originally announced as a live event, as the pitch fest draws near, it has shifted strategy to allow producers and buyers to watch online.

In light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Cartoon Forum has opted to move some elements of this year’s Cartoon Forum online.

Because some producers and buyers have to follow more restrictive measures, the annual pitch fest has opened a new online platform for the event. Buyers and co-producers will be able to view the pitches, which will be filmed on site, via a dedicated platform. The recordings will be available 24 hours after the live presentation through to mid October.

Pitchers are still expected to present live, on site in Toulouse, France. And as a result of disruptions to translation services, all pitches will need to be done in English. (Previously, they could be done in multiple languages with simultaneous translation but the event.)

Also new this year, Cartoon Forum unveiled a mobile app for projects to allow attendees access to info about the content without needing to use physical evaluation forms or agendas.

This year’s original pitch list included Hey Fuzzy Yellow from Toon2Tango, Goat Girl from Daily Madness Productions and Hanna & Nana (pictured) from JAM Media.

Cartoon Forum announced earlier this year that it was going forward with a live event despite the pandemic. There are social distancing and health protocols in place for anyone attending in person, and more information can be found on the Cartoon Forum website.
