Cartoon Network EMEA is doubling down on The Heroic Quest of the Valiant Prince Ivandoe.

Created by Danish animators Christian Bøving-Andersen and Eva Lee Wallberg (The Amazing World of Gumball), the 10 x three-minute shorts are being shifted to a 20 x 11-minute series. The new long-form show is being developed and cowritten with EP Daniel Lennard (who also oversaw development on Gumball and Apple & Onion). It is being produced in partnership with Copenhagen-based Sun Creature Studio, which also produced the shorts.

Following a delusional young prince who embarks on a quest up Eagle Mountain in search of a golden feather, the longer format series is just the latest European original to be commissioned by Cartoon Network. Other recent commissions include The Amazing World of Gumball and Elliott from Earth.

First launched in 2017 as part of an interactive web game, The Heroic Quest of the Valiant Prince Ivandoe turned into shorts in 2018. It then went on to win four trophies at the 2018 Emile European Animation Awards and received BAFTA noms as well as recognition at Annecy. Meanwhile, the web game (which encourages users to quest to unlock new episodes) has an average fan engagement of 37 minutes play time across the EMEA region.
