Capacitor Studios and Cosmic Kids are ready to breathe deep and dive into development. The California prodco and YouTube channel (pictured) are partnering to create children’s content focused on yoga, mindfulness and relaxation.

The TV/OTT series will combine live action and animation, and is being fast-tracked by Capacitor. Showrunner Scott Stone (Legends of the Hidden Temple, BrainSurge) and former Nickelodeon EVP of live action and TV movies Bronwen O’Keefe (Henry Danger, Double Dare) are spearheading development for the prodco.

Cosmic Kids launched in 2012 and features videos teaching young children about yoga, guided meditation and mindfulness exercises. Since the COVID-19 pandemic saw schools around the world shut down, the YouTube channel has seen more than 250,000 new monthly subscribers and an average of 30 million new monthly video views.

This jump comes as kid-focused fitness content is growing in popularity, according to Tubular Labs’ COVID-19: Know what the world is watching Kids report, which showed views on children’s workout content spiked to more than 7.5 million per day across YouTube in recent weeks. Views for kid-focused physical education videos are also on the rise across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Capacitor launched in March with a focus on creating consumer product and entertainment franchises. The company’s first projects include an animated series based on the Feisty Pets property as well as a feature film based on the KidRobot toy brand.
