Toronto-based Spin Master’s COO and CIO have stepped down, and it has appointed two new EVPs.
Global president, COO and board director Ben Gadbois and EVP, global operations and CIO Bill Hess are both leaving Spin Master. Gadbois has been in the role since 2012, and was a big part of the company’s more than 10 acquisitions, including its recent move to pick up Maya Toys’ Orbeez brand and the US$79-million purchase of US plush manufacturer Gund. Prior to that, he worked at Newell Rubbermaid as global president, leading brands like Sharpie, Little Tikes and Pyrex. Hess also previously worked at Newell Rubbermaid as the global VP of supply chain.
Meanwhile, Paul Blom has been appointed the interim EVP of global operations and technology. He is responsible for leading the company’s ops and IT teams in Asia, Canada, the US, Europe and Mexico. Blom has led global expansion in senior roles at IBM, SMTC, CFM and Celestica.
Spin Master has also promoted SVP of talent management Tara Deakin (pictured) to EVP of human resources and chief people officer. Before joining the company this past June, Deakin worked in senior management at Rogers Communications, Citigroup and TD Bank in Canada and the US.
