Barcelona prodco Planeta Junior has hired former head of Globosat’s head of content, development and programming for its kids channels Paula Taborda dos Guaranys in the newly created director of content role. Starting today and reporting to the studio’s international commercial director Diego Ibáñez, she will grow the company’s portfolio with productions, co-productions and acquisitions.
Taborda dos Guarany’s hire is part of the studio’s efforts to expand beyond distribution and licensing in a bid to produce more original shows.
Prior to joining Planeta, Taborda dos Guaranys served as head of content, development and programming for Brazilian network Globosat’s kids channels Gloob and Gloobinho. She left Globosat last September after working at the company in various roles for more than two decades.
Before she joined Globosat she held various roles in the industry including a children’s programming content consultant for Brazilian trade event Images of Childhood Forum; project manager for Brazilian government org RioFilme where she evaluated projects and oversaw marketing for audio-visual festivals; and head of international relations at prodco Canal Futura.
Planeta Junior has been growing its team in the last few months to prep global growth following the merger of its French, Portuguese and Spanish operations together in March. It hired former TF1 CP manager Hélène El Arouni as head of consumer products and media in France. It also tapped former Warner Bros. vet Emanuela Tartari to lead media sales and consumer products in Italy, and brought on former Warner Bros. and Disney Disney sales lead Africa Vasquez Rubi as its international animation sales director.
