Seeing Apple TV as a rising star in the broadcast market, and wanting to grow its own reach across more platforms, London-based kids entertainment creator Moonbug is launching an eponymous new preschool-skewing OTT offering on the app.
With the tech company busy promoting Apple TV as a premium OTT service, and added attention due to the recent launch of its original Apple TV+ content, now seemed like the perfect time to launch the channel, says Moonbug’s CEO René Rechtman.
The preschool OTT channel is available on iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Mac, some Samsung smart TVs, Roku and Amazon Fire TV devices. Moonbug’s channel costs US$1.99 per month, and includes Little Baby Bum, Go Buster and My Magic Pet Morphle (pictured).
“We’re trying to build digital franchises and that means taking our content to new platforms all over the world to reach more kids,” says Rechtman.
If all goes well, Rechtman says the plan is to create more IP specifically for the Apple TV channel.
The launch of the new service was the company’s next step after growing its team and slate this past year, says Rechtman. In September, Nicolas Eglau joined Moonbug as its first head of EMEA. That was quickly followed by the company partnering with Nordic broadcaster NENT Group to create and air a spinoff of the Little Baby Bum brand titled Mia’s Magic Playground.
