The Toy Association named 114 finalists for the 2020 Toy of the Year (TOTY) Awards, with Mattel taking home 12 nominations. The California-based toyco is a finalist in the doll, action figure, game, construction, infant/toddler, innovative, license, playset and vehicle categories.

Hasbro (with seven nominations), Spin Master (seven), The LEGO Group (five), Moose Toys (four) and MGA Entertainment (four) are also in the running for multiple wins.

The finalists were selected from 633 nominees submitted by 236 companies. Judging was done by 18 experts, including retailers, academics and journalists. Online voting for the 16 toy and game categories will be open until January 5. The winners will be announced at the TOTY Awards gala on February 21 as part of New York Toy Fair.
