Corus Entertainment has promoted Mellany Masterson to head of Nelvana Enterprises. Masterson takes over the role from Pam Westman, who was recently upped to Nelvana president, following Scott Dyers’ retirement. Masterson previously served as VP of global consumer products and international distribution, beginning in early 2018, and worked as a director of licensing for North America and Asia at Corus from 2011 to 2015.

In her new position, reporting to Westman, Masterson will oversee the brand strategy and content distribution of Nelvana’s brand portfolio, as well as its digital, licensing and retail development. She will also lead Nelvana Enterprises’ drive toward international expansion. The company is focused on “growth in content distribution and consumer products, developing key strategic partnerships and accelerating digital expansion plans,” according to Westman, in a statement.

Masterson has previously helped to drive Nelvana’s growth in its “digital-first toy initiatives,” as well as landing new partnerships and brand acquisitions. She has more than 15 years of experience in kids entertainment and consumer products.

Nelvana has made strides to diversify its portfolio in the last year, partnering with game developer Minomi Park to become the global licensing agent for its Slime Rancher property.
