Paris-based distributor Superights has acquired the international distribution rights to the new Horn Quartet 2D-animated special Up to the Mountain (pictured) from French producer Vivement Lundi!

The distributor hit the ground running and has already locked in deals for the 26-minute special with Canadian broadcaster Télé-Québec, Irish channel TG4 and Chinese distributor WeKids. Air dates have not yet been announced.

The Horn Quartet’s latest escapade sees its cow heroes head off on a new adventure in the mountains to rescue a lost friend. The special is written by Nathalie Dargent (Lulu Vroumette, Crafty Kids Club) and Yves Cotton, the author of the original book series. Dargent also wrote Vivement Lundi!’s first Horn Quartet special Cow Trip to the Sea, which Superights just sold to VRT (Belgium), TG4 (Ireland), RTS (Switzerland), Télé-Québec (Canada), TrueVisions (Thailand) and WeKids (China). Superights acquired the global rights to that special in 2016.

Up to the Mountain is produced by Mathieu Courtois and Jean-François Le Corre with returning director Benjamin Botella.

The deals further Superights’ strategy of picking up specials from European producers. Earlier this year it acquired the the TV, VOD and home video rights to Zibilla, a 26-minute 2D-animated TV special from Swiss animation studio Nadasdy Films. And a year ago, it snapped up six new specials from French prodco Les Films du Nord, including The Wind in the Reeds.
