Viacom International Media Networks has launched BooKids by Nickelodeon, a new eBook subscription app. Available on iOS and Google Play in France, the subscription-based service includes a digital library of kids books including all of Nick Jr. and Nickelodeon’s most popular characters. It is also available as an add-on through VIMN’s pay-TV partners in the region.

Costing US$7.60 (€6.99) per month, the app offers nearly 200 eBooks published by Nickelodeon and will be refreshed with an average of 10 new books every month. The titles will feature characters from SpongeBob, PAW Patrol, Ninja Turtles, The Loud House, Dora the Explorer, Shimmer and Shine, and Blaze and the Monster Machines.

The eBook library is divided into themes, ages (three to seven and six to 12) and categories (audiobooks, illustrated books, chapter books and activity books). There is also an offline connection option and a multitask mode for audiobooks.

Nickelodeon has previously tried its hand at eBooks with a digital reading app in the US, Nick Jr. Books. However, BooKids is the first ever mobile subscription app featuring all of Nick Jr. and Nickelodeon’s characters.
