Barecelona-based producer/distributor Planeta Junior has hired former Warner Bros. sales planner África Vázquez Rubí as the company’s international animation sales director. As her title suggests, Rubí is responsible for managing the international animation sales operations across TV and digital media platforms. Reporting to Planeta’s international commercial director, Diego Ibáñez, Rubí will also work to expand the its brands internationally.

Previously working as the senior sales TV content planner and business analysis at Warner Bros. in Australia, Rubí began working at Planeta Junior in June. Prior to her time at WB, she was the affiliate sales contract manager at NBCUniversal Media, where she managed a team of analysts under the company’s TV channels division. She also worked at Walt Disney for four years as the licensing senior contracts and royalties analyst, before being promoted to the position of licensing contracts and royalties supervisor.

Planeta Junior has had a busy year so far, singing a number of deals to grow its brand and sell its series. Earlier this month the company secured an agreement with Singaporean studio One Animation to build a licensing program to roll-out across Europe for its preschool comedy series Oddbods, and last month Amazon Prime Video acquired three animated series from the company. It’s CGI-animated shows Maya the Bee and Heidi are now streaming on the platform in Italy and Spain, while the 3D CGI-animated series Gormiti is streaming in Italy and will arrive in Spain later this year. Meanwhile, this past March, the company merged its French, Portuguese and Spanish operations together to increase its presence internationally.
