Awesome Media & Entertainment has optioned the media rights to YA novel The Last Wish of Sasha Cade and is developing it for TV.
Written by Cheyanne Young and published by Kids Can Press YA imprint KCP Loft, The Last Wish of Sasha Cade tells the story of a high school student sent on a mysterious scavenger hunt after the death of her best friend. The deal marks London-based Awesome’s second major literary acquisition following an investment from Toronto-based Kew Media Group in 2017.
In addition to optioning the rights to existing titles, Awesome is focusing on developing its own books for the small screen. The company launched its Awesome Reads publishing imprint in September, under the leadership of publishing director Ingrid Selberg (previously managing director of Simon & Schuster Children’s UK). It will publish three to four books a year, with Awesome Media developing the properties to extend into television.
