Canada’s DHX Television has picked up French prodco TeamTO and Montreal-based Digital Dimension’s animated series Mighty Mike for its kidcaster Family Channel. Meanwhile, pubcaster CBC has grabbed the show for its French net Radio-Canada.

The series began airing on Family Channel this month, and Radio-Canada will follow in the fall. The photo-realistic show is distributed internationally by CAKE.

The co-produced 78 x seven-minute non-dialogue slapstick-comedy, targeted at six- to 10-year-olds and tracks a pug named Mike who is in love with the neighbor’s dog and schemes, unsuccessfully, to win her heart.

Cartoon Network confirmed Mighty Mike will premiere on Boomerang UK in May with the other international territories rolling out in the ensuing months, followed by France Télévisions and Germany’s Super RTL in September. TeamTO is also launching its licensing program this year and is appointing new licensing agents for consumer products, based on the show, this year including toys, plush, figurines, publishing, apparel and pet products. Recently, Chinese distributor UYoung signed a 10-year deal to distribute TeamTO’s Mighty Mike, Jade Armor and My Knight and Me in the region.
