Disney is beginning production in the spring on Zombies 2, a sequel to its 2018 film Zombies, with Meg Donnelly and Milo Manheim reprising their lead roles. The sequel will follow a human cheerleader (Donnelly) and a zombie football player (Manheim) who try to unite the community, protect a budding romance and deal with the arrival of a group of werewolves.
It is being written by David Light and Joseph Raso, again, with director Paul Hoen returning to helm the sequel.
According to Disney, the original film was cable TV’s number-one rated telecast among kids six to eleven and tweens nine to 14 in 2018. It premiered in February saw 12.8 million viewers, including four million kids six to 11 in its first 10 telecasts and was number one title in the DisneyNOW app. Its videos on DisneyMusicVevo have more than 377 million views while its soundtrack debuted at number one on the Billboard Top Children’s chart.
