BBC preschool channel CBeebies is rolling out its new Go Explore app today. The offering comes loaded with games linked to the UK’s Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and featuring characters from Go Jetters, Hey Duggee and The Furchester Hotel.
It opens in a magical garden that encourages children to be curious by letting them tap on butterflies, puddles and underwater landscapes to find new activities. From there, kids can access games and an “outdoor” cinema that plays short videos such as Sing with CBeebies, Andy’s Safari songs and Go Jetters Funk Facts.
Teaching life skills and primary school preparation, the games include: Go Jetters—Glitch Switch, which lets kids create their own safari park; math-focused Hey Duggee—Party Time; and The Furchester Hotel—Another Happy Guest, featuring mini-games kids must play to serve hotel guests. The three games were developed by BBC Children’s, Aardman Animations, Complete Control and Mobile Pie.
There is also a “den area” where parents can see what children are playing and how their skills are developing through the curriculum.
