Paula Kaplan’s role as EVP of talent and development for Viacom Digital Studios is expanding to include oversight of talent for Nickelodeon. She will report to both Nickelodeon president Brian Robbins andViacom Digital Studios president Kelly Day.

Kaplan previously worked at the kidcaster from 1993 to 2014, in positions ranging from EVP of original programming and live events, to EVP of talent and GM of West Coast. She helped develop several actors in the Nickelodeon stable into pop culture icons during her tenure, including Ariana Grande, Kenan Thompson, Emma Roberts and Nick Cannon.

Kaplan joined VDS in April with a remit to oversee the development and management of talent and production partnerships by building up its portfolio of talent-centric IPs. Prior to joining Viacom’s new venture, she was chief talent officer and head of live content for Awesomeness, where she led the company’s talent initiatives and casting strategies for film, series and new business. Viacom acquired Awesomeness in July to bolster its VDS portfolio.
