Disney Channel is doubling down on Star Wars Resistance, ordering a second season of the animated series to premiere this fall. And season one will return to the small screen January 13 on Disney Channel and DisneyNOW, after a mid-season hiatus.
Tracking the adventures of Kazuda Xiono, a young pilot recruited by the Resistance, the show takes place in the time leading up to 2015 film The Force Awakens. Its voice cast features some talent from the Star Wars movie franchise, including Oscar Isaac and Gwendoline Christie. First announced in April 2018, the 21 x half-hour original series launched on Disney Channel US, the DisneyNOW app and Disney Channel VOD on October 7.
Lucasfilm Animation veteran Dave Filoni (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels) created Resistance, which is executive produced by Athena Portillo, Justin Ridge and Brandon Auman, with Amy Beth Christenson serving as art director.
