France’s Xilam Animation has signed a bunch of broadcast deals in EMEA and LatAm for its new rebooted series Mr Magoo. Inspired by the classic cartoon of the same name, the 78 x seven-minute 2D-animated series is currently in production and slated to start airing later this month.
Turner picked up Mr Magoo for its Boomerang channel in France, French- and English-speaking Africa, the Middle East, Israel, Turkey, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Central & Eastern Europe. And Discovery Kids acquired it for Latin America. The show is also set to air on Super RTL (Germany), VRT and RTBF (Belgium), SIC K (Portugal), RTVE (Spain) and RTS (Switzerland).
The new Mr Magoo targets kids six to 11 and follows along as the eponymous senior citizen causes chaos. Consumer products will be a major focus for the property moving forward, starting with the French and UK markets.
Originally commissioned by France Télévisions, the series was previously picked up by CITV (the UK), Discovery and DEA Kids (Italy) and Cartoon Network Asia.
