Go Away, Unicorn! finds master toy partner

Sonar Entertainment has tapped Jazwares to lead toy business on its new animated series, with a first product range set to hit shelves next summer.

Jazwares has secured exclusive global rights to produce a toy line for Sonar Entertainment’s Go Away, Unicorn! As the IP’s worldwide master toy partner, the Florida-based company will be rolling out peel-away bling figures, a variety of figure packs and plush SKUs from Russ at retail in late summer 2019.

Following its initial launch on Corus Entertainment’s YTV (Canada) in September, the 52 x 11-minute series will be premiering on Disney Channel US in March, with an exclusive preview available on the DisneyNOW app in December.

Based on a same-name book written and illustrated by Emily Mullock, Go Away, Unicorn! centers on Alice, a young girl who prefers sports and books to rainbow and glitter. The show’s story kicks off when a real-life unicorn crashes her birthday party and declares himself her new best friend.

Sonar acquired the series along with the rest of the assets of Toronto- and LA-based Tricon Films & Television after the indie producer/distributor declared bankruptcy in 2016. Go Away, Unicorn! was produced with assistance from the Canada Media Fund, and CentaIP signed on to oversee global licensing and retail efforts for the IP in May as worldwide licensing agent.
