The fallout from TRU’s bankruptcy continues, with Florida-based toyco Basic Fun! announcing today that it has purchased all of Playhut’s assets.
Known for its foldaway popup playhouses, tents, tunnels and games, Playhut produced the popular EZ Twist line of indoor and outdoor play structures. The company was founded in 1982 in California, and has since introduced several innovative products, including instant set-up structures and foldaways.
Playhut joins a growing portfolio of iconic toycos that Basic Fun! has recently acquired, including K’NEX, Tech 4 Kids, The Good Stuff Company and Uncle Milton Industries. And it’s been quite an intense buying spree—construction toy maker K’NEX was just purchased less than a month ago.
Basic Fun! also recently received an equity investment from Boston’s Falcon Investment Advisors to fund a plan for its organic growth as it continues to consolidate smaller toycos.
