Amazon Studios has given the greenlight to Gaumont’s new musical preschool show Do, Re & Mi. Created by Jackie Tohn (GLOW, American Idol) and Michael Scarf (Moon and the Son: An Imagined Conversation), the 52 x 11-minute Amazon Original will be produced by Gaumont with executive producers Tohn, Scharf, Kristen Bell (Frozen) and Ivan Askwith (Reading Rainbow).
Every episode of the animated series starts with an adventure and ends with a song, featuring original tunes performed by Bell and Tohn.
Gaumont hopped onto the concept with Kristen Bell two years ago when it was announced that Askwith would be getting involved to extend the IP’s presence into apps, games and music videos.
The French prodco is no stranger to working with big names, having recently signed a deal with bestselling children’s book author Julian Lennon (son of John Lennon) to produce an animated TV series based on his Touch the Earth and Heal the Earth titles. It also snagged the rights to turn Stan Sakai’s long-running comic saga Usagi Yojimbo into a TV series.
