Disney Channel has ordered a third season of Tangled: The Series ahead of the second series premiere on June 24. The animated comedy adventure is also getting renamed, and will now be called Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventure.
Season two, announced last year, will be available on Disney Channel, the DisneyNOW app and Disney Channel VOD as part of Disney Channel’s Go! Summer campaign. The guest voice cast for this season features Carol Kane (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), Lil Rel Howerey (Get Out), Yvonne Strahovski (Chuck), Britt Robertson (For the People) and Timothy Dalton (License to Kill). The season follows the adventures of Rapunzel venturing out of the kingdom in search of mystical black rocks.
The main cast will continue to be led by Mandy Moore as Rapunzel and Zachary Levi as Eugene, and will include original music by Alan Menken (The Little Mermaid, Aladdin). The series, produced by Disney Television Animation, was developed by animation veterans Chris Sonnenburg (Hercules) and Shane Prigmore (Coraline). Sonnenburg also serves as executive producer and supervising director while Benjamin Balistreri is co-executive producer.
Season one of the series was the number one animated series on cable among girls nine to 14 years old, reaching 40 million total viewers including 8.3 million kids ages six to 11 and 7.2 million tweens ages nine to 14.
