In celebration of this month’s US National Teacher Appreciation Day, Crayola has kicked off Thank A Teacher, an online campaign designed to celebrate teachers through digital content and weekly contests.

New digital site Crayola.com/ThankATeacher will unveil a contest on July 1 that will let families upload thank-you notes for teachers in order to win prizes like a US$10,000 classroom makeover, a one-year supply of Crayola products for their school, a US$1,000 scholarship or a US$1,000 Crayola gift card. Additional prizes include a free CreatED seminar as part of Crayola’s recently launched CreatED program, which supports teachers in using classroom art to inspire students.

Weekly sweepstakes will also run throughout the campaign, offering entrants a chance to win US$500 gift cards. The contest and sweepstakes will both end on August 25.

To kick off the initiative, a 25-foot-high digital card streamed thank-you notes from across the US in New York City’s Flatiron Plaza earlier this week. Crayola is also calling on US families to show their appreciation for teachers on social media using the hashtag #CrayolaThanks.

The marketing initiative comes as Crayola celebrates its 115th anniversary—and continues to ramp up its creative offerings. Earlier this year, the company inked a deal with Wicked Cool Toys to develop plush and activity lines, and teamed up with Mattel’s Barbie to release fashion activity items and a YouTube series entitled Barbie x Crayola Create It Yourself.
