London’s Zodiak Kids has secured new global presales for its CGI series Lilybuds ahead of the preschool toon’s May 5 premiere on France Télévisions’ France 5.
The 52 x 11-minute series has been picked up by Discovery MENA, Canal Panda (Portugal), DeAJunior (Italy) and RTS (French-speaking Switzerland). The latter will launch the show on Saturday alongside France 5. Canada’s Knowledge Network also pre-brought the series for broadcast later this year. (Lagardère previously picked up Lilybuds‘ pay-TV rights for its Tiji preschool channel.)
Following a community of tiny magical gardeners known as Lilybuds, the toon centers around a group of friends that tends to an extraordinary garden. It is co-produced by Zodiak Kids Studios, France Télévisions and Discovery Kids LatAm, with Zodiak Kids Studios creative director Eryk Casemiro serving as executive producer, and Kate Boutilier (Rugrats, Poppy Cat) on board as head writer. Zodiak also owns worldwide distribution and licensing rights to the series.
Recently, Biplano signed on as Lilybuds’ licensing agent in Italy and Spain, while Sagoo has rights to the property in France.
