Media giant Discovery has sold a digital subscription service of its popular Discovery Kids brand to Amazon’s Prime Video Channels in the UK.
Discovery Kids content for children ages four to eight heading to the low-cost, third-party premium video service includes original series Doki, Meet the Penguins, Dogs: The Untold Story and How Do They Do it – Kids, as well as third-party titles My Little Pony, Peppa Pig, Angry Birds Toons, Strawberry Shortcake’s Berry Bitty Adventures and Transformers Rescue Bots.
Amazon Prime UK also recently added Channel 5’s Milkshake! preschool block under the name More Milkshake!
Following its US launch in 2016, Amazon Channels expanded to the UK and Germany last year with 40-plus subscription TV channels, including preschool SVOD app Hopster, Ketchup TV, nature doc-focused Love Nature and UP Family.
Amazon Channels lets Prime subscribers add premium channel subscriptions—both live and on-demand—for a low monthly subscription fee starting at £1.49 (US$1.93) per month. The content can be accessed via the Amazon Video app on smart TVs, iOS and Android mobile devices, Amazon Fire TV, Fire TV Stick and Fire tablets, games consoles and at www.amazon.co.uk/channels. After a one-week free trial, Discovery Kids can be purchased on Amazon Channels UK for UK£3.99 (US$5.60).
