Following in the footsteps of an animated series and two feature films, Vicky the Viking is now getting the live-action TV treatment, thanks to Studio 100 Media, m4e and Rat Pack Filmproduktion. The new untitled TV series will follow Vic, a streetwise boy who lives with his parents in the viking village Flake.

Rat Pack previously produced the first Vicky the Viking movie in 2009, which was followed by Vicky and the Treasure of the Gods in 2011. More than 6.6 million tickets were sold in German-language cinemas for the two films combined. Produced by Studio 100 and Flying Bark Productions in association with ZDF and TF1, CGI-animated series Vicky the Viking (pictured) bowed on Spain’s Clan TV in 2015.

The Vicky the Viking franchise is based on the children’s book series written by Swedish author Runer Jonsson that was first published in Germany in 1964.
