Peter Voelkle, the founder and former CEO of kids and family programming group TV Loonland AG, has launched Atmosphere Media. The new company will develop, produce and co-finance animated scripted series and films, as well as pursue strategic investments in existing companies. It will also develop new VR and AR projects.

Atmosphere Media will have offices in Zurich, Berlin and New York, and is a part of the Atmosphere Group–a media and technology holding company founded by Voelkle. Atmosphere Media will be helmed by Voelkle, with new appointments to follow shortly.

Voelkle left TV Loondland in 2005 after a successful IPO. (The company closed in 2010.) Munich-based brand management and media company m4e AG bought the back catalog of TV Loonland from its bankruptcy trust, which included series like The Cramp Twins, Babar, Rudi & Trudi and Lion of Oz.

Before starting Atmosphere Group, Voelkle served as the chairman of Pulse Evolution, a San Francisco-based VR production company.
