Development expert and executive producer Rita Street (Space Chickens in Space, Hero: 108) has launched a LatAm-focused kids co-production company—Panita Productions—alongside producer/creator Lina Foti (Nowhere Boys).

The duo will run the company out of Canberra, Australia together with entertainment attorney partner Ken Dusick, who has repped animation producers, writers, directors and studios for more than 40 years.

Panita will head to next week’s Kidscreen Summit in Miami having secured the rights to localize hit series The Wiggles as Los Wiggles for Latin America. The studio is working directly with the brand’s creator and Blue Wiggle Anthony Field, as well as the entire Wiggles team, in the search for an all-Latin cast.

The company also touts an original content slate for all kids demos featuring work from Mexican, Colombian and American artists. In particular, Panita Productions now reps characters created by Costa Rican comic book artist Edward Brends.

Following Kidscreen Summit, Street and Foti will present development workshops throughout the territory with various export offices. They will also create original content for clients worldwide.

Street is co-creator of the Disney EMEA comedy Space Chickens in Space, which will launch in 2019. Her partner on the series is Jose Carlos Garcia de Letona of Mexico’s Anima Estudios. Street is also an executive producer on the upcoming feature film 100% Wolf from Flying Bark and Studio 100.

Foti, meanwhile, brings extensive experience in international marketing and business management to Panita on top of her TV work, which includes a producer role for NBCU-owned Matchbox Pictures and a director/writer credit on NatGeo Kids LatAm factual series Animal Mania from producer Northern Pictures Australia. She has also served as a consultant for the localization of animation and live-action shows across Latin America and English-speaking territories.
