Nat Geo Kids has greenlit its first two original productions for children in Latin America, entitled Nat Geo Lab and Pilar.

Nat Geo Lab (26 x half hours) will premiere this year on the Nat Geo Kids app and linear channel. The live-action show is produced by FOX Telecombia and National Geographic Partners, and features homemade experiments using items widely available so children can easily replicate the projects on their own.

Pilar, meanwhile, is based on the children’s books of the same name (pictured) by Brazilian author Flavia Lins. Nat Geo Kids has acquired rights to develop the titles into an animated series for young audiences in Brazil. There is no set premiere date for Pilar.

Nat Geo Kids launched in July 2017 in Latin America, followed by a separate launch in Brazil in September. The multiplatform destination is a joint venture between National Geographic and 21st Century Fox, and is aimed at four- to seven-year-olds.
