California-based management and production company The Cartel is bolstering its animation and family division with the appointment of industry exec and former entertainment agent Matthew Ellis as a manager.
Based in the company’s L.A. office, Ellis brings with him a catalog of writers, directors, producers and artists specializing in animation and children’s programming. His clients include Shea Fontana (DC Super Hero Girls, Wonder Woman, Dorothy From Oz), Amy Keating Rogers (The Powerpuff Girls, Care Bears) and Doug Wood (Tree Fu Tom, Bob the Builder, Enchantimals).
Previously, Ellis served as a talent agent at The Metropolis Agency. He has sold projects to a number of production companies, studios and broadcasters, including titles like Pet Alien, Jim Henson’s Pajanimals, Secret Mountain Fort Awesome and Crowning Jules. He also previously served as an agent at The Irv Schechter Company.
Ellis’ appointment follows the sale of The Cartel’s animated comedy series Twelve Forever to Netflix. Bowing in 2019, the series is created, executive produced and written by Julia Vickerman (The Powerpuff Girls, Clarence).
