Australian toyco Moose Toys is partnering with McDonald’s Restaurants to feature its Happy Places Shopkins toy brand in the restaurant chain’s Happy Meals across the US. Shopkins toys will be included in Happy Meals starting January 2, following a deal brokered by The Licensing Shop.
Happy Places Shopkins—a brand extension of the Shopkins collectibles franchise—launched in 2016 and focuses on the homes of the Lil’ Shoppies characters. The McDonald’s Happy Meal tie-in will feature 48 collectible Petkins including Bathing Bunny Bathroom, Kitty Kitchen, Puppy Patio and Dreamy Bear Bedroom.
Earlier this year, Moose Toys partnered with Build-A-Bear Workshop to develop an assortment of plush and accessories in stores and online. Also brokered by The Licensing Shop, the global licensing agreement covers Build-A-Bear Workshop locations in the US, Canada, Denmark, Ireland, Puerto Rico, the UK and China, as well as franchise stores in Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, Mexico and the Middle East.
Moose Toys also recently celebrated the launch of World Vacation—the eighth iteration of its Shopkins line—with a Shopkins Macaron Café pop-up experience in New York. These partnerships and marketing initiatives continue to launch as Moose Toys expands the Shopkins brand into new categories and territories. Since its debut in 2014, Shopkins has grown to include hundreds of collectible toy characters, a line of Shoppies dolls, an animated web series and a live production.
