UK-based children’s OTT service Azoomee has tapped digital product designer Ostmodern to create a new back-end system for its platform.
Azoomee is using Ostmodern’s Skylark end-to-end video delivery and content management system to improve user experience and help with future international growth. For example, Azoomee can now localize its content—which includes videos, games, audiobooks and educational material—for different territories, and also identify which games are best suited for certain devices. Azoomee is currently available on iOS, Android and Amazon for a monthly subscription of US$6 or US$60 per year.
This year, Azoomee raised more than US$1 million on CrowdCube (77% above the company’s original target) and struck a deal with BBC Worldwide for 90 hours of content including Horrible Histories, Charlie and Lola and The Next Step. It also brought on Jess Butcher, co-founder of augmented reality-based app Blippar, to its board as a non-executive director.
Launched in the UK last July, Azoomee was created by husband and wife duo Estelle and Douglas Lloyd.
