UK children’s broadcaster CITV has commissioned Spy School, a new live-action unscripted series produced by Zodiak Kids. The game show will air in 2018 on ITV and CITV on weekends.
The 14 x half-hour series will follow young spies in training as they undertake problem-solving and physical skills tests, solving puzzles around London’s most iconic landmarks.
Directed by Matt Holt and Gary Brooks, Spy School will feature one team of two kids per episode. Steven Andrew and Joe Shaw serve as executive producers, with Ben Spiteri as series producer.
Zodiak Kids Studios is also currently producing 60 episodes of the fifth season of Scrambled!, which began airing on CITV in September. The studio has also been commissioned to make four specials for the comedy sketch show.
The commission comes at a time when kid-focused game shows are picking up steam at other networks. FremantleMedia’s The Noise and Beat the Clock launched in late October on Universal Kids in the US, along with competition series Top Chef Junior. Turner EMEA is also getting in on the action with the live game show Ben 10 Challenge, based on the recently relaunched Cartoon Network animated show.
