As the emoji trend continues to influence the kids space, Florida-based toy company Basic Fun! has launched Poopeez. The new brand builds on the popularity of the poop emoji and toilet humor.
Poopeez is created in collaboration with Brandberry and follows six characters in the world of Kerplopolis. A global toy line will kick off in January, featuring collectible characters sold in blind capsules that look like rolls of toilet paper. There will also be a toilet launcher and a potty-themed collectible case. (Following the toy launch, the brand will be available for consumer products licensing.)
Basic Fun! has also partnered with executive producer Matthew Wexler of Wexworks Media and Little Blackstone Studios to create an animated YouTube series that will bow in November.
Basic Fun! was formed in 1991 and sold to Florida-based children’s consumer products maker The Bridge Direct in 2013 then in February, it merged with Canadian toy developer Tech 4 Kids. The new company plans to acquire and merge with a new company every 12 to 18 months.
