Nickelodeon Consumer Products has upped Jose L. Castro to SVP of softlines. Castro’s new role will see him manage existing partnerships and develop new business opportunities for the network’s portfolio of properties across categories including apparel, accessories and home goods.
Reporting to Pamela Kaufman, CMO and president of consumer products, Castro will serve as the liaison for all global fashion collaborations pairing Nick’s IPs with designers and brands. Additionally, Castro will continue to oversee specialty and department store retail accounts, executing the brand’s exclusive campaigns and working to broaden Nickelodeon’s in-store footprint.
Most recently, Castro served as Nick SVP of retail development. In his former role, the 14-year Viacom vet was tasked with overseeing all specialty, e-commerce and emerging accounts including Toys “R” Us and Amazon. In recent years, he helmed programs including PAW Patrol’s Adventure Beach at Toys “R” Us and a Nickelodeon ’90s fashion program at Macy’s.
In July, the kidsnet promoted two team members to the VP level on its project management team. Jamie Edelstein was named VP of creative operations, advertising project management at Nickelodeon Group, while Cheryl Konieczko was named VP of franchise creative project management. Both Edelstein and Konieczko continue to report to Eric Squires, SVP of creative operations and project management.
