France-based TeamTO and Nexus Factory in Belgium are developing a new animated series based on Studio Canal’s CGI-animated feature film House of Magic, which grossed US$64 million at the global box office in 2013.

School of Magic (52 x 11 minutes) is being directed by Christian de Vita, who has previously held stints at Disney, Aardman, Cartoon Network, Warner Bros. and the BBC on projects ranging from Fantastic Mr. Fox to Frankenweenie and PJ Masks.

The film spin-off follows Dylan, Izzy, Zach, Vincent and Veronica who all have a gift for illusion, conjuring, misdirection and magic and attend a magic camp in the hopes of becoming real magicians. TeamTO and Nexus Factory will be pitching the series at Cartoon Forum in Toulouse, France next week.
