The House of Mouse is readying its new animated series, Vampirina, for an October 1 launch with two back-to-back episodes on Disney Channel and Disney Junior. The series will also have special screenings in movie theaters across the US on October 21, 26 and 28.
The screenings are a part of Disney Junior at the Movies – HalloVeen Party! presented by Fathom Events. The events will include a never-before-seen episode and a costume party for kids. Tickets go on sale September 22 on the Fathom Events website.
Produced by Brown Bag Films in association with Disney Junior, Vampirina stars Lauren Graham (Gilmore Girls, Parenthood), James Van Der Beek (Dawson’s Creek) and Isabelle Crovetti (Shimmer and Shine) as members of the Hauntley Family, friendly vampires who recently moved out of Translyvania. Each episode has two 11-minute stories and one original song.
The show is inspired by Disney Publishing’s popular children’s book series Vampirina Ballerina, written by Anne Marie Pace and illustrated by LeUyen Pham. It is made by the creative team behind Doc McStuffins, including Doc creator/executive producer Chris Nee and co-executive producer Norton Virgien.
The series already has CP extensions on the go, including several storybook and early-reader book titles from Disney Publishing Worldwide, as well as dolls, plush, playsets and role-play products from Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media. All items will launch simultaneously with the show on October 1. Meanwhile, four, 22-minute episodes of the series will be available on Disney DVD on October 17.
