Toronto, Canada-based Spin Master is launching a new preschool toy line inspired by its entertainment division’s animated series Rusty Rivets. The easy-to-build toys will be available exclusively at Toys “R” Us stores across North America and online beginning on August 1.
The new line allows kids to build their favorite characters and vehicles, including Botasaur and Rusty (pictured), as well as create their own unique builds. The toys feature an easy-click system that lets each piece work interchangeably in an effort to encourage open-ended, creative play. The Rivet Lab playset, for example, includes a buildable robotic helper, working elevators and realistic lights and sounds.
Designed for kids ages three and up, the toys will retail from US$7.99 to US$39.99. The line also includes customizable Mini Build Packs and Core Build Packs.
Rusty Rivets (26 x 30 minutes) debuted on Nickelodeon last summer and was recently renewed for a second season. The series follows young inventors Rusty and Ruby and seeks to inspire kids to take part in the maker culture through innovation.
Earlier this year, ex-Spin Master Entertainment VP and executive producer Jennifer Dodge returned to Spin Master’s film and television division in the newly created role of EVP, following a two-year stint as SVP of development for Nickelodeon Preschool. Dodge is now developing and launching strategies to further Spin Master’s entertainment division and is also leading day-to-day operations including content production and the expansion of current IPs like Rusty Rivets and PAW Patrol.
