UK-based Zodiak Kids has secured a partnership with US technology and distribution company Future Today that will extend the reach of its ZeeKay and ZeeKay Junior YouTube channels to various OTT platforms.

Future Today will develop, manage and grow viewership for the channels across Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV and other OTT platforms.

Releasing new videos twice per week, Zodiak Kids’ preschool hub channel Zeekay Junior features clips, unboxing videos, musical sing-alongs and content customized for YouTube. Since launching in 2015 on the YouTube Kids app, the channel now has more than 220,000 subscribers.

Zeekay, meanwhile, is Zodiak Kids’ flagship YouTube channel. Along with YouTube Kids channels for hit shows Mister Maker, LoliRock and Little Grey Fergie, the Zeekay channels help make up Zodiak Kids’ YouTube Multi-Channel Network (MCN), which currently boasts more than 1.2 million subscribers and 20 billion-plus minutes of watch time.

Future Today currently manages more than 1,000 OTT channels through its cloud-based platform and works with more than 500 content partners to help them distribute, promote and monetize their content via custom branded channels.

In other Zodiak Kids’ deals, the company has snapped up animated property GivingTales for Zeekay Junior and will manage the IP’s stand-alone YouTube channel. Primarily an app for mobile devices, GivingTales offers illustrated and animated versions of classic Hans Christian Andersen fairy tales narrated by some of Britain’s most iconic voices, including the late Sir Roger Moore, David Walliams, Stephen Fry, Dame Joan Collins, Joanna Lumley and Sir Michael Caine.

It also features small puzzles and learning games for the alphabet, names of animals, and instruments. The Ugly Duckling (pictured), The Emperor’s New Clothes, The Little Mermaid and The Princess and the Pea are among the 12 videos picked up in the deal.
