Steve Couture, the former co-founder of Québec City, Canada-based digital entertainment studio Frima, has been elected as the new chairman of the board of directors for industry non-profit org Pixel Québec.

Couture will succeed Daniel Le Saunier, who served as chairman for nine years and was instrumental in establishing a number of Pixel’s international projects, including industry networking exchange Cartoon Connection Canada and competitions Pixel Animation and Pixel Challenge.

Pixel expects to leverage Couture’s vast industry experience and wide network of business contacts across video gaming and animation.

Along with co-founding Frima, Couture served as its CEO for 14 years before leaving the company in April this year. While at Frima, Couture helped the company amass a long list of clients including Lego, Mattel, Microsoft and Ubisoft. Frima also launched its new app-first kids series, MaXi, in 2016.
