British indie producer True North has been commissioned by UK pubcaster CBBC to produce a new animal observational documentary series entitled The Pets Factor.

The 20 x 20-minute series will provide audiences with a behind-the-scenes look into some of the best and most animal-friendly vets practices within the UK.

Each episode will be hosted by television presenter Stacey Dooley and showcase veterinarians treating a host of animal ailments–from a constipated snake and a balding chicken, to an operation on a goldfish and a dog that’s swallowed a sock.

Sima Ray serves as producer on The Pets Factor alongside exec producers Jessica Fowle (True North) and Hugh Lawton (CBBC).

The series was commissioned by CBBC controller Cheryl Taylor. It joins the channel’s lineup of other factual series including Operation Ouch!Ice StarsHow to Be Epic and Life Babble, along with in-house-produced CBBC makeover show The Dengineers.
