At AwesomenessTV’s NewFronts presentation in New York, the DreamWorks Animation and Verizon-owned Gen Z media company unveiled several renewals for its original content slate, an Awesomeness News venture, a new Netflix original movie and a content partnership with US retailer Hollister.

The multi-platform network also unveiled findings from a new research study entitled Gen Z: The Audience You Can’t Ignore, which reports that 71% of today’s kids consume entertainment through streaming, 58% say that to achieve success they need to find their purpose in life, 55% are more comfortable connecting with people online than in person and 26% do not identify as heterosexual.

And it looks like AwesomenessTV’s fresh batch of content takes a page from these findings. Its new Netflix original film You Get Me, which premieres on June 16, follows a high-school student in love with his perfect girlfriend when a fight makes him go out of control and fall in love with an out-of-towner. It stars Bella Thorne (Famous in Love), Halston Sage (Before I Fall) and Nash Grier (The Outfield), and follows the success of AwesomenessTV’s first YA film, Before I Fall.

Awesomeness’ original scripted series Freakish (pictured) has been renewed for a second season on US streamer Hulu, while more eps of digital shows Foursome, Guidance, t@gged and The Commute have also been ordered for the company’s multiple platforms. The digital network has also launched Awesomeness News, a new editorial show that will focus on socially conscious issues including politics, the environment, social justice and more.

Awesomeness and global apparel brand and retailer Hollister, meanwhile, will launch an original series and integrated campaign aimed at inspiring the Gen Z audience through live events, brand integrations and an original soundtrack with music videos. The companies’ co-pro This is Summer is set to premiere on May 20 on AwesomenessTV’s YouTube channel and will follow a group of juniors and seniors in San Francisco as they navigate some of the most important and adventurous times of their lives. Awesomeness and Hollister will release songs and music videos inspired by the series, which will be available to stream on Spotify and will play in Hollister stores later this year.
