Mattel-owned MEGA Brands’ brick property Mega Construx has partnered with Corus Entertainment’s YTV on an interactive initiative that will bring Canadian children together to construct a giant monument celebrating diversity, unity and acceptance.
Named Build Beyond, the empowerment project called on Canadian kids to submit stories detailing how they’ve helped bring their community together.
Ten newly announced winners will now travel to Ottawa to work with Canadian architect Jean Beaudoin and a group of Master Builders on a large-scale monument made of more than a million Mega Construx bricks, which will be inspired by the kids’ stories. The monument will be unveiled at the Ottawa Children’s Festival on May 10.
Build Beyond follows the ongoing trend of empathy-inspired programs and inclusive-based IP launches in the children’s entertainment space.
It also arrives on the heels of BBC Children’s and Sky Kids’ new empathy-based initiative Project Hope, which is currently searching for global kidcasters and media companies to co-produce and finance 12 short films promoting kindness, empathy and tolerance with the goal of launching the content on International Children’s Day (November 20).
