Chris Rose moves to Beano Studios

Trading in Sydney for London, the ex-children's TV commissioning editor for ABC Australia is taking a leading role at the recently founded studio.

ABC Australia’s children’s TV commissioning editor Chris Rose is trading in Sydney for London to take up the role of director of development and production at Beano Studios.

Launched in September 2016, Beano Studios’ productions target kids ages seven to 10 and are based on the long-running Beano comic book series. Its content is available on beano.com and the Beano app. A new broadcast production operation is currently in the works as the studio readies the debut of its first TV production Dennis and Gnasher: Unleashed on UK pubcaster CBBC later this year.

Rose will be working on long-term projects for TV, film and theater productions for the Beano characters, as well as new IPs. He is charged with overseeing the development and writing teams, the creation of new characters/properties and finding new platforms for current Beano offshoots.

Before his stint at ABC Australia, Rose served as VP of programming and development at HIT Entertainment and as content and acquisitions manager for CBeebies. He recent kids TV credits include The Flamin’ ThongsThe Kazoops and The Deep.
