Children’s digital entertainment app Azoomee has picked up 90 hours of content from BBC Worldwide in a year-long deal that covers series Charlie and Lola, Horrible Histories, Katie Morag, The Next Step, Deadly 60, Nina and the Neurons and Little Human Planet.
Launched in the UK last July, the Azoomee app includes shows, games, audiobooks, an art studio and messaging functionality.
The app was created by husband and wife duo Estelle and Douglas Lloyd, who recently raised more than US$1 million on CrowdCube ( 77% above their original target). Last summer, former Hopster product lead Mahesh Ramachandra joined the VOD app as chief product officer.
Azoomee (US$6/month) also includes original content like Search It Up, an 18-part animated series on internet safety.
