Produced at Nickelodeon’s new facility in Burbank, an anthology-based fifth season of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, entitled Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, is set to bow on the US kidsnet on March 19.
The 20-episode season follows seven distinct stories from Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo’s past and future, while revisiting old fan favorites and introducing new characters.
The season’s first three episodes will include Star Wars alum Mark Hamill guest starring as an evil dragon. Other guest stars include Chris Sarandon (The Princess Bride) as Count Vlad Dracula, Graham McTavish (The Hobbit) as Savanti Romero, Dana DeLorenzo (Ash vs. Evil Dead) as Esmeralda, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa (Revenge) as Sumo Kuma and Nyambi Nyambi (Mike & Molly) as Verminator Rex.
The CGI-animated series stars the voice talents of Seth Green (Robot Chicken) as Leonardo, Sean Astin (Lord of the Rings) as Raphael, Rob Paulsen (Plant Sheen) as Donatello, Greg Cipes (Teen Titans) as Michelangelo and Mae Whitman (Parenthood) as April O’Neil.
A 2D-animated version of the iconic property was recently announced at the Nickelodeon upfronts. Entitled Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the new series will premiere this fall.
