Corus Entertainment-owned Nelvana Studios has inked a new development deal with Grey Matter and United Talent Agency (UTA) to produce a preschool series inspired by the works of Miami-based artist Romero Britto.

Happy Art Happy Life (working title) follows Romero, a sharply dressed bulldog that lives, paints and sculpts in an exotic art studio. Alongside Romero is an animated ensemble of friends, all of whom are all budding artists in various disciplines. (Think finger painter, paper maché sculptor, found object designer and street muralist.)

The show’s 11-minute eps will be produced by Grey Matter‘s Lawrence Grey and Ben Everard, and written by Judy Rothman Rofé (Madeline), and they will blend live action, animation and remote videos that introduce young audiences to the world of visual arts.

The show also intends to celebrate diversity and promote inclusiveness through spirited and relatable characters.
